The Oggie Story

Chapter 1

A shy little tadpole

Oggie starts life at the bottom of the jar — more interested in books than swimming, a little overlooked and a little existential. A frog with feelings.

He leaves his woeful past

Oggie packs up his troubles and sets off to find a better home — somewhere warm, green, and absolutely stuffed with snacks.

Chapter 3

The swamp of plenty

He finds a lush swamp bursting with fruit and gorges himself silly: "the most delicious food I have ever eaten!" Gobble, gobble, slurp.

Chapter 4

There is justice in nature

Belly full, heart at peace, Oggie leans back and decides the universe is basically fine. His whole philosophy fits in a bubble: life is good.

Matt Furie created Pepe the Frog in 2005 for his comic Boy's Club. While Robert Crumb's underground 1960s comics and various pop-culture styles influenced Furie's overall artistic aesthetic, Pepe himself was an original creation rather than an adaptation of a specific character named "Oggie."

$OGGIE simply tips its hat to that scrappy, hand-inked underground lineage — a weird little frog with a big, cozy heart.
